The 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Gospel Theme for Today

In bargaining with God, Abraham demonstrates a real persistence in prayer. Jesus invites us to persist in prayer, as well, to “ask...seek...knock”. May our prayer open us to God’s will, and so build up His strength within us. In baptism, we have died       with Christ, and have been raised to life with Him.

Theology of the Body  3 weeks summer session

Here’s what we hope to answer at the end of our study…

What is the difference between abstinence and chastity?

Why is marriage only between a man and a woman?

How is contraception connected to abortion?

Why is an annulment not a divorce?

What exactly is Theology of the Body?

Who: Young adults, catechists, parents, anyone interested

When:  Tuesdays, July 13th, 20th, 27th from 6:00—7:30 pm

Where: Our Lady of the Lake Holy Family Parish Hall Classroom #2

Why: Do you struggle with answering some the questions above?  You are not alone.  With the guidance of the Holy Spirit through the teaching body of the church, we learn to live in faithfulness. Come to study and pray so that we may be a clear reflection of the Father in our families, work places, and church.

Prayers for Vocations

Would your family like to take home for a week the beautiful statue of the Holy Family?  All we ask is that you offer your prayers together each day of the week for the vocations in our parish families.  With the statue, you will be given a Prayer for Vocations that you can pray each day.  We will be rotating the statue between the  8:30 am and 10:30 am Masses each week. We will also do this each week at the 12:30 pm Spanish Mass.  So, if you are interested or would like more information regarding this, please contact Peggy in the Religious Education office at 855-2685.
